Orch Dorks, Unite! (hoi.)

I know only one of you will get all that....because members of the marching band are dubbed "bandos" by everyone, some friends and I decided the often pushed-aside orchestra members should have a cool nickname too. Hence, orch dorks. We are proud.

The Hoi is a sub-group within the orchestra, consisting of Christina, Bethany, Jessie, Kami, myself, and formerly teh Cassandra. (it's not the same without her...) We got the name from that beginning part of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, when they're in Singapore and this one guy gets into that spa thing just by saying "hoi!" at the door. Yep. Sorry for the intense details, I haven't seen that movie in a while.....anyway. Our purpose of existence? To hoard a practice room and laugh maniacally at God only knows what. It's amazing.

So yeah. Hmm.....a lot has happened since my last post. I resolved not to even try to spike my hair for St. Patrick's Day, half because I was kind of behind that morning (I had to run out of the house for fear of missing the bus), and half because I have to extend my arm as far as it could reach to hold the tip of my hair straight up.
....Did that make sense....? o.o

(I apologize for the sporradic spacing, it doesn't like me....)

hmm.....Easter was a big day for us. It was Tony's birthday (HE'S 20 NOW!!! O__O ), and he had to play with the church choir one mass, so he borrowed my big amp...I had played my bass the day before, which meant that if I hadn't remembered, Tony's keyboard would've been playing on overdrive. While that would've been cool, I doubt the choir would've thought so.

lol......Chris has been waiting for them to rock out anyway, apparently there's a song we sing in church all the time that sounds like some hard rock song he knows.....

My uncle (Dad's twin) also had a heart attack on Sunday. He was in the hospital for the better part of this week, and he'll need to take about 11 pills a day for maybe a year, but it sounds like he's doing better. He had an angioplasty (add that to the list of my biology-related nicknames... >.>) on Sunday, so his arteries are clearer and all that. He's going to help my cousin train for football season, so that'll help him get back in shape too.....

Not too much happened in the week itself, just Junior Paper and Semester Event junk to worry about. Yesterday was awesome though, Katelin (a former orchestra member, maybe part-time Hoi attendee? I can't remember...) is on Spring Break and home from college, and so she got together with Jessie, Cassandra, Bethany, Nicole, and I last night to go bowling. I mastered the art of not falling when it's my turn or throwing the ball straight into the gutter or someone else's lane (which...has happened before... >.> ), and I even won a round. They started the cosmic bowling thing a little before we left....let me tell you, bowling in the dark with flourescent lights all over the place and blaring Hell's Bells by AC/DC is the most amazing thing ever. I'm really hoping we can somehow make bowling a regular thing....

In musical news (because I'm running out of things to ramble on about), I'm starting to re-obsess with the Goo Goo Dolls and HIM. They're both really good, if you like more melodic stuff, like Muse or something, except slightly less trippy. HIM's more goth, their name stands for "His Infernal Majesty," and their symbol looks like a pentagram (the "heartagram," with 2 curved points...), but they're not Satanist, like a lot of people seem to think....Really cool lead singers too, John Rzeznik (don't you want his last name??) and Ville Valo. Both bands make me want to play everything, get better at guitar/bass and even try drums and more advanced piano, both of which I know I'd have absolutely no coordination for.....

Here are a couple really awesome songs....I'd embed them like you guys have shown the ability to do......except I'm incredibly computer-lame and can't figure out how to do that on this, because it's apparently a different format than that of ProBoards...

So...
Big Machine by Goo Goo Dolls

Tucked Away by Goo Goo Dolls (their other singer, also their bassist....his voice is really weird, but awesome at the same time. I saw a very, very good live performance a few years ago...)

Wings of a Butterfly by HIM

Wicked Game by HIM (this is apparently a popular cover song....)

hmm....well.....I think that's pretty much it. Cassandra told me to post more often, so yay. ;D

...until next time? Sure......
